365 Pictures 24-30 April 2011

Hi Everyone!!!  Hope you had a wonderful week & and blessed Easter.  I believe in Jesus Christ as my personal  Saviour, and that He died on the cross a perfect sinless sacrifice for me and conquer the grave rising 3 days later so I could be in heaven with Him.  That is what Easter means to me.  Now onto my pictures for this past week.

Sunday 24 April, 2011
I hosted the Marshall Family (my in-laws) Easter at my home.  21 family members (2 were missing) & 2 guest made for a wonderful, fun filled Easter.  The last time I had Easter at my home was 7 years ago.  So I have a couple of pictures to share for today.....
My grand niece Charleigh smelling my tulip for the 2nd time & licking the inside (we didn't know until later)

Charleigh's face afterward with pollen on her nose & lips.

The Marshall grand daughters or my nieces - Ali, Casie (niece in-law), Anna, Tricia, Esther holding my grand niece Charleigh, Sarah (niece in-law & Charleigh's mom, & Echo.  All these girls except Ali & Charliegh are sisters/sister-in-laws.  My husband's older brother has 9 kids, 4 girls & 5 boys plus now 2 daughter-in-laws.

Marshall Grandsons - first time we have had all 7 of them together since Christmas 2007.  Wood (my son), Jesse, Elisha, Joel, Josh (my son), Jared & Enoch in front.  From my comment above, these are all brothers except my two.

Monday 25 April, 2011
My day was filled getting ready for Awana award night at church this Wednesday.  I'm the Spark Director, so my job to get the awards organize.  This year we gave out 16 certificates, 18 1st book ribbons (green one), 6 2nd book ribbons (blue one), & 3 3rd book plaques.

The sun finally came out this week & Grouchy was soaking up all she could in my picture window behind my desk.

When I tried to get a better picture, Grouchy realized I was taking her picture, quickly rolled over & growled at me, giving me a dirty look.  She didn't want her picture taken at that moment.

Thursday 28 April, 2011
Ear Candling Time.  My son Wood, my husband & I did this tonight.  This is my son who is getting his ears cleaned out by "Ear Candling" a natural way to get all the stuff out of your ears, that causes ear aches, blocked hearing, etc.  The candle is made out of bees wax  & yes, you stick the bottom part in your ear then light the top part.  The candle will slowly burn down & draws out wax & gunk of your ear in the bottom part of the candle. You blow it out when about 3 inches  of the candle is left.  We bought these candles from our Chiropractor.  And what is the result......

This is what was drawn out of my husband's ear.  He said later his ear felt clearer on the inside, not full.

Friday 29 April, 2011
Today was muffin day.  My husband likes to take muffins to work for his breakfast.  He leaves at 6:30am & that is too early for him to eat, so he eats breakfast at 9:30 during his morning break & muffins are the easiest to eat.  These are Brown Sugar-Oatmeal Muffins.  This batch has chocolate chips in them.  The next batch was pecans.  The next was cherry flavored crasins & pecans.  I think I ended up making 6 to 8 dozens muffins.  The recipe for these muffins will be on my blog page "Good Cooking", just click on the link on the right side of my home page.

Saturday 30 April, 2011
My oldest son went down to Branson, Missouri to see his brother at college (College of the Ozarks) & go turkey hunting.  They didn't see any turkeys, but they spent the afternoon at the fish hatchery checking out the dam.  As you can see all ten gates are open & have been since Tuesday because they received 17 inches of rain the weekend before, plus more this past week, & the lake was about to go over the dam.  Our son Josh is 5 miles from this dam at college.  His college is on a high bluff so they are safe.  2 miles down from this dam is where my father-in-law has a time share (since my husband was 3yrs old) & they are fine so far, but the houses across the shore from the time share place are half under water.  My heart goes out to those people.

Well, that is my week & I got my pictures done on time.  Hope all of you had a great week.  Look forward to seeing your pictures.

365 Pictures 17-23 April 2011

Well, another week has gone by way too quickly.  Didn't get to take pictures much this week, been very busy, but we will see what I have

Sunday 17 April
We had our church's Easter cantata Sunday night.  I'm in the front row, 1st on the left.

Monday 18 April
Okay, I didn't have time to take a picture, but the deer cam did.  This deer will be a buck, you can see the buds of his rack starting to poke through on his head.

Tuesday 19 April
I was back at church signing people in for the church directory pictures - last day.  My son knew I really wanted a picture of my tree in our back yard, so he took this for me.  We have had this tree for 4 years, but this is the 1st year it has put out its pink blossoms.  I was soooooooo happy to see them.

Wednesday 20 April
Love our deer cam, great back up when I don't have time to take pictures.

Thursday 21 April
Happy Birthday to my sister-in-law Glenda.  This was taken in 1997, only picture I could find of us together.

Motor found Wood's lap top again & his bed was made.

Took Easter supper to my mom in St. Joseph.  She lives in an assistant living home.  This is a picture of my oldest son, me & my mom.

Friday 22 April
YEAH for deer cam!!!!  Saved me again on giving me a great picture on the day I needed it.

Saturday 23 April
This is what I did most of the day, making my niece her Barbie with a blue dress & green flowers on it birthday cake.  Tomorrow we will celebrate Easter with my husband's family at our house & celebrate Ali's 7th birthday that was last week.

Okay there is my week.  Hope everyone had a great week & a wonderful one coming up.

365 Pictures 10-16 April 2011

My oh my where has this week gone!!??  I had some great days to get pictures & some interesting days to try to get pictures. So here we go...... my little week.

Sunday 10 April
Sunday the winds got up to 50mph.  I was sitting in my dining room, we had the front door in the living room open & all of a sudden we heard a very loud "THUMP".  This starling was blown into our screen down, dazed & stuck.  Of course I yell to my husband, don't unstick him until I get a picture.  After I took the picture, the bird freed himself & flew away.

Monday 11 April
It is planting time.  Now it the time to be very careful on these country roads are you will be coming upon farm machinery going very slow.  I'm on my way to Women's Bible Study at church Monday morning when I get stuck behind a farmer about a mile outside of town.  We were going about 5 mph when I took this picture.  This is planter that can plant about 200some acres being pulled by a tractor.

Made it past the planter & about 10 miles down the road here comes another tractor pulling a field cultivator, but I can get ahead of him just in time to get behind.....

a truck pulling a anhydrous applicator.  This puts liquid nitrogen into the ground.  I was blessed to be on a straight way with passing zone, so I could pass him too & continue to Bible study only 2 min. late.

Tuesday 12 April
First - Happy 25th Anniversary to my sister-in-law and brother-in-law (my husband's brother) Glenda & David Marshall

Tomorrow will be our niece Ali's 7th birthday.  I went to St Joseph & picked her up after school to go birthday shopping for the first time just she & I.  We brought a "Dr. Barbie" with two babies in a little set.  We also had to buy a Ken doll because as Ali put it "I cannot have a Barbie with babies because I don't have a boy Barbie.  You cannot have a job & babies without having a Daddy, it just not done."
After present shopping & picking out the theme of the cake I would be making her next Saturday, we went to IHOP for supper.  She had never been there & was very surprised to see the size of her "CHILDREN'S" chocolate-chocolate chip smile face pancake.  This look of pure happiness was priceless.  So was the look on her mom's face when I dropped her off, told her what she ate & produced the leftovers for her breakfast tomorrow.

On the way back home (1hr 15min. drive) the sun was setting & really neat looking.  I must admit I'm proud of the this picture because I just took my camera & pointed it to the side mirror while keeping my eyes on the road.  I didn't look to the side at all & wonder how the picture would turn out.

Wednesday 13 April
Today our niece Alicen Ruth Boyer's was born 7 years ago.  She is a special girl.  Her grandma Alice Boyer died the October before she was born of cancer & her grandma Lela Ruth Marshall died of cancer a month after she was born, thus her name Alice"n" Ruth.  She is 13 days old in this picture.

It was time for bed & I was sitting around realizing I didn't have a picture for today.  I was sitting near a counter that Motor was looking cute on & tried to take a picture.  He didn't want his picture taken & came running toward the camera trying to put his wet nose on my lens, so I snapped the picture quickly & flashed him with the flash.  This was the result.  He also quickly ran away giving me a dirty look.

Thursday 14 April
This is what I'm doing the next 3 days (Thurs-Sat) & also this coming Monday & Tuesday.  Church directory pictures!!!  I'm the directory coordinator for our church & in charge of putting the photo directory together.  I spend from 11:30am - 10:20pm at church today, signing people in for their appointments & doing other stuff, then finally locking up the church when the photographer & consultant where done for the night.  4 more days of this, WHEEEEEEE!!!!!!

Friday 15 April
Another Birthday!!!!  Happy Birthday to my sister-in-law Christine.  This is a picture of her & my brother.  I have never met her, but have talked to her & she is a sweetie.

Okay, didn't get a picture taken today, but this is from earlier this week.  I have walked across the street from my house to take this picture.  This is the Gilman City up town park, complete with a band stand/pavilion & 4 picnic table benches.

Then if you stand in the middle of the road & look west, you will see down town Gilman City.  This town use to have a population of 999 because the railroad went through it.  But the railroad pulled out & the town like many others in the area shrunk (now 382) or died.  That 4 way stop did have a blinking traffic light hanging two years back, the only one in town, but it broke & so they got rid of it.

Saturday 16 April
Okay dorky picture of me, but it was what was taken.  This is my friend Diane & my co worker today as we signed in people to get their picture taken for our church directory.  All day event for me, from 8:30am to 7:30pm.  Thank you Diane for making it a fun time.

This week is done & posting late but oh well, such is life.  Have a great week ladies

Project 365 - 3-9 April

Well, another week has come & gone.  Did a lot better on taking pictures this week.  Weather was weird, some days very warm & nice, then we drop to freezing temps & rain.  Well, let's see what caught my eye or came into my life this week

Sunday 3 April
On Saturday, I went to the city to return my dead fish (still under warranty) & add some more to the tank.  Three of the newer fish were bigger than than the first batch we got.  They caught Fuzzy's eye & she was determined to have some Sushi for breakfast. She was very gentle when she pawed at the tank.

New fish #1 - called him Blackie, he is a type of guppy

New fish #2 - Domino, another guppy

New fish #3 - Pointdexter.  This one is funny.  He has gotten use to the cats watching and not afraid of them.  In fact it the cats walk by the tank & he spies them, he starts swimming in loops in the front part of the tank so the cats will try & get him.  When the cats do, he swims very fast to the top of the tank, like is is almost going to jump out.  Very funny to watch.

Monday 4 April
It took Motor till Monday to discover the new fish.  He was more in a stealth mood but later he would stand up in the front of the tank like fuzzy.  He also pawed at the tank but it was more of a pounce then slap.

Tuesday 5 April
Election Day in Missouri.  I work the election polls from 5:00am - 9:00pm.  I was head supervising election judge - first time working at the position.  These are the three other ladies that worked with me & my husband checking in to vote.  He was the first voter at 6:04am.  It was a long day, but fun.  Not much on the ballot, so it was also a slow day & I got a lot of cross stitching done.

Wednesday 6 April
First off - a Happy Birthday to my nephew Jesse David Marshall.  He turns 24yrs old today.  This is one of my favorite pictures of Jesse when he was 4yrs old.

I went back to New Hampton Christian School, where I taught until Dec 2011 (had to quit because of my surgery & 3 - 6 month recovery).  I needed to take class pictures & one of the whole student body.  The ones I took in the fall were out dated since three new students join after Christmas.
This is the elementary class - my class that I taught.  Two of the new students are in this group.

Jr./Sr. High class - Miss Jamie's Room

Jr./Sr. High Pastor Paul's Room

2010 - 2011 Student Body of New Hampton Christian School

Thursday 7 April
Not the best picture.  I took it through my picture window while it was lightly raining.  The male American Goldfinches are starting to loose their winter brownish, yellow feather & have their beautiful, bright, yellow feathers shine through as you can see on this male.  Now I will be able to tell the females & males apart.

Friday 8 April
Our second day of cold, wet, rain weather so I was in the mood to make soup.  Today 2x4 (two by four) Soup.  This is a slightly spicy, Mexican style, thick soup.  Best eaten with tortilla chips.  I like using the scoops & when I was shopping yesterday I found these new (at least to me) Tostitos Multi grain Scoops!!!  The recipe to this is on my new recipe blog called "Good Cooking" & the link is on the right side of my blog page.  I also put the Bran muffin recipe (I posted back in Feb.) on this link.

Saturday 9 April
I decided today to start taking pictures of the little town I live in each day until I'm done.  I do mean little - population 382 according to 2010 census.  So I'm standing in my front yard, we have a corner house & when you look southwest you see the Gilman City Rural Volunteer Fire Department.  This is also where everyone came to vote on Tuesday.  If you look behind the fire station to the right of the picture you will see a pavilion (will take better picture tomorrow).  This is also the main city park.  I think this fire station is about 15 years old or younger.  When we moved here in December of 1991 this was just an empty, grassy lot.

Well, that is my week.  Hope all of you had a great one.  God Bless.

Project 365 - 27 March - 2 April

Not a good week for me to take pictures.  When I had a great shot, didn't have my camera & of course when I had my camera no picture to be taken.  But, I did spend a lot of time this week doing digital scrap booking & editing some pictures I took for the Christian school I use to work at.  I put together a digital yearbook & regular one, so that is taking up most of my time the next couple of weeks.  Also saw the doc & so far no knee surgery.  Have spent 6 weeks trying to stay off it as much as possible, now I get to spend the next 6 weeks having physical therapy twice a week.  Hoping that will help my meniscus to heal & I won't have to have surgery.  Now, back to this week.

Sunday 27 March
Every eight weeks I have the privilege to serve in the 2's & 3's children's church for two weeks in a row, then off for another eight weeks etc.  This Sunday was my turn.  We had 5 this Sunday, but could get up to 8 if they all come.  These are the cuties that bless my time with them playing with play dough.

Monday 28 March
Does this bring back memories for any Avon Ladies???  My parents divorced when I was 16.  Mom went back to Dad when I was 18 (I was in college & on my own) for a year, but things didn't work out & she left with what ever she could pack in two suitcases.  Well, I guess Dad has decided to go through the stuff she left behind.  I had a surprise package in the mail with these 6 Avon collectible perfume holders in it.  The perfume, that is somewhere between 25 to 30 years old, was still in the bottles.  They didn't smell too great either.  I also got a package Tuesday with another 6, but most of them had broke, so no picture.  Luckily he had wrapped each one in paper towels & put each on in a separate plastic bag.

Tuesday 29 March
Here is a picture I took back in September for school pictures, it was in color.  Then today I edited it on picnik for the school digital yearbook.  This is for a small Christian school on it's5th year & has 21 students.  For the slide show I have a slide with the student's school picture & followed by a fun picture to show the student body.

Wednesday 30 March
Okay, nothing to take a picture of & it is almost the end of the day.  I walk into the bathroom & here are two of our cat sleeping on the bath towel my son left down.  Thought they looked cute & took a picture just to have one for the day.

Thursday 31 March
Okay, back to editing pictures on picnik for the school slide show.  This is 1st Quarter Honor Roll field trip.  In the A.C.E. christian school system, field trips are a privilege not a right.  The kids have to earn the privilege to go on them.  At New Hampton Christian School (where I use to work) all day field trips were saved for Honor Roll students.  These six made 1st quarter Honor Roll & were able to go the Kansas City American Royal for a youth Rodeo.  It was a lot of fun.

Friday 1 April
A collage I made for the digital yearbook.  In October the little town of New Hampton (315 population) has Frontier Days.  There is a parade & for the past three years the NH Christian School has enter a float & won 1st place.  This is this year's float.  Theme - Wizard of Oz with a sign that ask - Which road are you on????.

Saturday 2 April
This is the slide I made for the digital yearbook to introduce the elementary class.  I love digital scrap booking.  This was not made on picnik but with Microsoft Digital Image Suite and some digital scrap booking set I bought from A Cherry On Top Scrap booking website.
This is the Jr./Sr. high room #1 intro slide....

... and Jr./Sr. high room #2 intro slide.

That is it for this week.  Hope to take more pictures this coming week.
