365 Pictures 5 - 12 Feb 2011

Okay,
I know I'm still off a day, but couldn't wait to post this weeks pictures.  Hope to get on track next week.  Good week took at least one picture a day.
5 Feb
This is my husband on the right & my father-in-law (81 yrs old) on the left unloading a truck of wood from our farm.  YEAH!!!  We were almost out & it was in the negative numbers at night for this week.

6 Feb
This is a cross stitch I started a while back, then put it up because I didn't have time to work on it.  Now it is back out.  When I put it up, piglet and half the clouds were not done.  Hope to work on this every night when I watch TV.

7 Feb
Women Mission Union (WMU).  Every 1st Monday morning of the month our churches WMU group meets for a devotional & planning meeting.  The other Mondays we meet for Bible study.  We were missing some mom because of sick kids and very cold weather, but still had a great turn out.

8 Feb
Sunrise - another day God have given me to use for Him.  Nothing really plan for the day, just will see what God has in store.

9 Feb
Awana club at church.  This was my first night back as Spark director since my surgery.  It was fun to be back with the kids.  This is game time.  We had 36 Sparks that night.  Usually we have around 45 but there was an event at the high school that kept some kids away

10 Feb
Drove up to Des Moines, Iowa (2 hours north) to spend the day with my friend Brenda Nelson & her niece Adrianna who was visiting from Massachusetts.  We had a great day shopping.

11 Feb
Fuzzy - Really??? do we really need to be doing this right now?  I was sleeping you know...

12 Feb
Today was the best day and will be posting several pictures.  Temp was 50 & I went out to the farm with my husband.  Something I probably shouldn't have done since I'm still recuperating from my surgery, but it felt good to get out & walk on the farm.  I know I'm going to pay for this tomorrow. Our farm is about 2 miles south west of our home, 120 acres of timber & hay ground.  The snow was anywhere from 4 inches to a foot & a half.  I had a blast finding the animal tracks.

Squirrel Tracks
Where the squirrel had dug out a hedge ball, then ate it

Opossum tracks

Buck Brush where the opossum ate.  Striped all the seed off.

Deer tracks - the trail

Mostly deer tracks, but their are other animals tracks on our creek

The deer had to dig through the snow & ice to get to water.  There where three of these within 15 feet of each other on the creek.

Deer bed - either last night or sometime today a deer was sleeping here.  The tracks & other signs around it where fresh.

The goal - getting back to our jeep.  By the time we had walked to the deer feeder & salt block, we had walked over a 1/4 of a mile, but it felt more like a mile with all the snow we tramped down.

My husband got the camera.  Me walking in the trail he broke, almost there.

Look people track!!!  Made it to the jeep, looking back over one of our trails we walked that day.

My little life Jan 29- Feb 4

Hello,
Well another week has gone by & I'm a year older.  Here are my pictures for the week.  I had surgery on my head/brain 8 weeks ago, so I don't get out much while I'm recovering plus the 9 inches of snow on top of 8 inches of snow doesn't help either.  It has been a good week & look forward to the next one already starting.  Also I did manage to get a picture every day from Saturday to Friday.  That made me really happy.

Jan 29
We attended a workshop at church all day Saturday & were blessed to teach one of the classes.  This is Pastor Robert F. Loggins Sr. from St. Louis who was our workshop leader/speaker.  The workshop was on his book The Journey to Wholeness & Holiness, Fasting & Praying.  We had a wonderful time & learned a lot.

Jan 30
God bless me with 43 years of life today.  Wow, I remember thinking how old that was when I was a kid, yet I don't feel old at all.  Pastor Loggins was our guest speaker at both morning & evening service.  We had a carry in supper at church.  During the meal, my sweet Pastor grabbed this piece of angel food cake off the dessert table, took the candle from the center piece on the table he was eating at, crept up behind me, place the cake in front of me & started singing happy birthday.  I turned red, but felt a lot of love from my church family.  God is good.

Jan 31
The three cats watching "Birdie TV".  With a blizzard on the way, our bird feeders were very active & kept the cats occupied for a couple of hours.  Fuzzy on the left, Motor in the middle & Stripes on the right.  Fuzzy & Stripes are sister from the same litter.  Motor adopted us.  I didn't get any bird pictures because ice was forming on the window.

Feb 1
The blizzard has hit & this American Gold Finch is trying to get something to eat, wings are lock & ready to land but wait......

A  big gust of wind comes & blows the poor little one backward & up toward the top of the feeder.  It had to try several times before it finally landed on the feeder to eat.  The wind got up to 40mph that day.

Feb 2
Oh my, what is that yellow thing coming up in the sky???  Could it be the sun??? Will we finally see the light???  We started this day with negative numbers but did make it to the teens.  We had 9 inches of snow on the ground with drifts up to 3 feet high.  My husband couldn't go to work because highway 146 north of us was snowed in.  They finally clear our part of 146 sometime around 1:00pm.

Feb 3
I had to post two because these sight don't happen that often.  The first one is a picture of a pair of cardinals.  I have seen the females come in together & the males come in together but never one female and male this close together.  I was so excited to get a picture of them this close.  Most of the time if the come in together they are at least 4 feet apart.

Next, we had "Bunny TV"!  We have had rabbits come in to the feeders in the summer time, but not winter.  I usually can't get a picture because as soon as they see me through the picture window, they run.  This little bunny enjoyed eating all the thistle seed the finches and wind had dropped on the ground.  I think he was there for about an hour.

Feb 4
This is the street north of our house.  My first day out since the snow storm.  I was heading to town to pick up my husband from work the we were headed to Kansas City to see a friend in the hospital.  This was all the snow blown on the north side of our block.  Also to clarify where I live - I live in a small farming town, Gilman City, of about 370 people in the "city" limits.  We have a bank, restaurant, gas station, lumber yard & grain/feed place.  You can say Gilman is a "Bread & Breakfast" town.  People eat & live here but that is it.  It use not to be that way but that is a totally different blog.  "Heading to town" means going to Bethany 20 miles NE of us which has a population between 3,000 & 3,500.  Bethany is where everything is for us, job, church, food, etc.

That is all for this week.  Look forward to seeing what comes in view of my camera this next week.  Have a great day.

Project 365 Jan 1-28th

Okay,
My dear friend Lori asked me to join the 365 project.  It is a project of trying to take a picture every day of what is going on in your life, what you see, what you think is important, etc.  I had already started this on FB, so I'm continuing it here.  I haven't taken a picture everyday, but here is what I have done.  Enjoy!!

Jan 1
My son Josh, home on Christmas break.  While looking for something in my closet, found his dad's flight helmet instead & decided to have some fun with it.

Jan 2
My Hallmark Christmas Snowman collection plus a Snoopy & Woodstock (didn't make a snowman that year)  One last look before being put away until next Christmas.

Jan 3
Stripes aka Grouchy.  Trying to sleep on the towel we have by the front door for snowy shoes.  She is not to lady like most of the time.

Jan 5
The other two four legged "children" Motor (grey & white) & Fuzzy aka AD.  Nap time

Jan 6
Stripes got a little cold today.  She started half under the towel & my husband Stephen helped her cover up the rest of the way.  Spoiled kitty.

Jan 10
Taking down my Christmas tree & recording my ornaments via pictures.  This one is from when I was in Jr. High school, early 80's.

Jan 13
Stripes & Motor on my side of the bed.  This is what happens if I get dressed before I make my bed.

Jan 14
Another day of Motor beating me to my bed.

Jan 15
Last day of taking down the Christmas tree.  Tigger & Roo.  Tigger is my favorite Pooh character.  Disney Tigger was created the year I was born.

Jan 20
Icicles on my front porch

Jan 22
My husband Stephen trying to get our taxes done & Stripes helping him (ha)

Jan 23
A little birdie paid our porch a visit early this morning in the new, fresh fallen snow

Jan 24
What are you looking at?  Momma cardinal feeding in the snow at our bird feeder.

Jan 28
Turtle dove wanting to land.  There were three doves already on the ground by the feeder & this one wanted to land, but every time it hit the snow it would come right back up and try again.  After several attempts, it gave up & went back into our trees above the feeders.

Still learning

I was asked almost a year ago to start a blog page & start with pictures about my trip to Haiti.  I was too busy then, so I didn't.  The recently a friend ask me to join a blog she was doing about trying to take a picture everyday of the year & post it (I started doing on FB).  So here I am, with a lot of time on my hands & trying this "blogging" thing out.  Hopefully I will learn quickly, get my pictures up & yes Joann by blog about my Haiti trip.
